Since 2010, we’ve set the benchmark for transparency in seafood supply chains, advancing traceability systems that connect every tuna product back to its catch origin.

Originally a joint venture between Sustunable (Netherlands) and eight Pacific Island nations, Pacifical co-pioneered the world’s first MSC-certified industrial tuna fisheries, reaching over 500,000 MT of certified raw material by 2013. Building on Sustunable’s early consumer-facing traceability innovation in 2008, Pacifical launched a full end-to-end tracking system in 2010, integrating satellite vessel tracking, observer data, and unique product codes.

Over the past decade, Pacifical’s platform has tracked more than 1 billion consumer units, covering 178 purse seiners, 121 carriers, and 45 processors globally, while sharing verified data with over 180 end-of-chain partners.

Now operating independently, Pacifical is a dedicated IT company focused solely on traceability and verification across the Pacific. Through our Smartuna platform and real-time GDST Data Exchange, we continue to empower brands, retailers, and governments with instant access to verified, ethical tuna sourcing, from sea to shelf.
